Exxon Valdez - I wasn't drunk at the wheel though

Well, it really wasn't that bad but...

At about 10:45 this morning just outside Salinas CA, the BootBus oil light went on full blast which is not totally unexpected considering we have gone through 15 quarts already. When Nick and I check under the bus, there was a trail of oil as we slowed and an olympic size swimming pool of oil underneath...bad news.

We put in 2 more quarts of 20W-50 (that is think oil they tell me) - and decided to give it a go....we were getting close to being under 100 miles from Berkeley and the Bus Lab (where we got the bus fixed last time and within our AAA plus membership towing plan)

15 miles later, the same thing happened....Exxon Valdez oil spill. We are really close to the 100 mile threshold so we decided to give it a go one more time. In the meantime, people are stopping left and right asking if we need help. One guy, David, (we'll highlight him in a separate blog post) changed out our fuel lines since they were also leaking and a fire threat.

We made it to just south of Gilroy, CA. and called AAA. Bus was towed to the Bus Lab in Berkeley by a guy named Jack (another entry coming soon about this guy) from Marx towing. Joe e (a god) picked us up and is putting us up for the night.

Happy to see you made it to Berkeley. Sorry I didn't get much fixed today. If you need parts let me know, as I do have a complete VW engine sitting in my garage, that will work in a Bus if we bolt an adapter off the oil pump. If you are in next week let it known, as I will be in sf 11/18 and could visit you dudes. Au revoir.
